The Real Thing — One Solid Piece of Wood, Top to Bottom
Solid hardwood is exactly what it sounds like: a single piece of wood all the way through, with the kind of weight and sound underfoot that homeowners notice the moment they walk on it. There's no substitute for that feel, and for the right home, it's worth having.
It's also the most demanding flooring option in a climate like ours. Solid wood moves more with humidity than engineered hardwood does, so we're upfront with every The Greater Orlando Area homeowner about where it belongs in a home and where it doesn't — before we ever write a quote.

Where Solid Hardwood Makes Sense in The Greater Orlando Area
Solid hardwood works best over a wood subfloor, in climate-controlled spaces, and in homes where indoor humidity stays consistent year-round. We install it in a range of species and widths so it can match the character of an older home or the clean look of a new one.
- Red oak, white oak, hickory, and maple in traditional widths
- Wide-plank solid hardwood for a more open, modern feel
- Natural, matte, and satin finishes in a full range of stains
- Best suited to homes with an existing wood subfloor, not a slab
- Nail-down installation for the tight, quiet fit solid wood is known for

Explore financing optionsWhy Installation Matters More Than the Wood Itself
Solid hardwood needs time to acclimate to your home's humidity before installation, and it needs a stable subfloor underneath it — skip either step and you're looking at gaps or cupping down the road. We check your subfloor, condition the wood properly, and control the timeline so it's done right the first time.
We won't install solid hardwood directly onto a concrete slab. If that's your situation, we'll walk you through why engineered hardwood is the better call for that space, no hard feelings either way.

Straight Answers From a Local Crew
Casa Floors installs solid hardwood, engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl plank, laminate, and carpet with our own crews across The Greater Orlando Area — nothing gets subcontracted out. When we tell you solid hardwood is or isn't right for a room, it's because we've installed enough of it in homes like yours to know.
We'd rather talk you into the floor that will actually last in your home than sell you the one that sounds best on paper.

Solid Hardwood Flooring - frequently asked questions
Not directly, no. Solid hardwood needs a wood subfloor to perform well, and installing it straight onto a slab in a humid climate like ours is a recipe for problems down the road. If your home is built on slab, engineered hardwood gives you the same real-wood look with none of that risk.
It moves more than engineered hardwood does, expanding and contracting as humidity rises and falls with the seasons. It can still perform well in a home with a wood subfloor and consistent indoor climate control — we'll assess your specific home before recommending it.
We regularly install solid hardwood up to about 5 to 6 inches wide. Wider boards move more with humidity, so past that point we typically recommend engineered hardwood, which handles wide-plank looks more reliably.
Solid hardwood is one piece of wood all the way through. Engineered hardwood has a real hardwood top layer bonded over cross-layered plywood, which makes it more stable in humidity and safe to install over a concrete slab. Our engineered hardwood page has the full details.
