Thank you for choosing Casa Floors. Proper care and maintenance will help protect the appearance and performance of your new flooring for years to come.
The information below provides general care and protection guidelines. Always follow the flooring manufacturer's specific care, maintenance, and warranty requirements for your particular product. If the manufacturer's instructions differ from these general guidelines, the manufacturer's instructions should be followed.
Protecting Your New Floors
Use appropriate felt or manufacturer-approved floor protectors under furniture legs.
Lift furniture instead of dragging or sliding it across the floor.
Use extra care when moving heavy furniture, appliances, safes, exercise equipment, or other heavy objects.
Rolling chairs may require an appropriate floor-protection mat depending on the flooring manufacturer.
Periodically check furniture pads because dirt and grit can become embedded in them and scratch flooring.
Pets
We know pets are part of the family! A few precautions can help protect your flooring:
- Keep pet nails properly trimmed.
- Clean pet accidents promptly.
- Do not allow urine or other liquids to remain on the flooring.
- Place appropriate mats underneath water and food bowls when recommended for your flooring type.
- Scratching, clawing, chewing, stains, urine damage, or other physical damage caused by pets is not considered an installation/workmanship defect.
Dirt, Sand & Debris
- Dirt and grit can act like sandpaper on finished flooring.
- Use appropriate entrance mats at exterior doors and regularly sweep, vacuum, or dust-mop the floor using equipment suitable for your flooring type.
- Avoid vacuum attachments with aggressive rotating brushes on flooring where the manufacturer does not recommend them.
Spills, Water & Moisture
- Clean spills promptly according to the flooring manufacturer's instructions.
- Do not allow standing water or excessive moisture to remain on or around the flooring.
- Even flooring marketed as water-resistant or waterproof may have limitations. These terms do not necessarily mean that the entire flooring system, subfloor, walls, baseboards, or surrounding structure is protected from water damage.
- Damage resulting from flooding, plumbing leaks, appliance leaks, overflowing fixtures, HVAC condensation, roof leaks, standing water, excessive moisture, or other water intrusion is generally not considered an installation/workmanship defect.
- If you discover a significant leak or flooding event, address the source immediately and contact the appropriate professional.
Cleaning Your Floors
Use cleaning products and methods approved by the flooring manufacturer. Unless specifically permitted by the manufacturer, avoid:
- Steam cleaners
- Abrasive scrubbers
- Harsh chemicals
- Bleach or strong solvents
- Wax or polish
- Oil-based cleaning products
- Excessive amounts of water
- Cleaning products that leave heavy residue
- Never assume that a product labeled "floor cleaner" is appropriate for every flooring type.
Area Rugs & Mats
- Use rugs, mats, and rug pads that are compatible with your particular flooring.
- Some rubber, latex, vinyl, or chemically treated backings may react with certain flooring finishes and cause discoloration.
- Do not use adhesive-backed floor protection or tape directly on the finished flooring unless specifically approved by the flooring manufacturer.
Sunlight & Environmental Conditions
- Flooring can naturally change appearance over time.
- Direct sunlight and UV exposure may cause fading or color changes. Window coverings, blinds, curtains, or UV-filtering treatments can help reduce prolonged exposure.
- Maintain indoor temperature and humidity within the flooring manufacturer's recommended range, particularly for hardwood and other moisture-sensitive products.
LVP / Luxury Vinyl Plank Care
- Sweep or vacuum regularly using an appropriate hard-floor setting.
- Clean using a manufacturer-approved vinyl flooring cleaner.
- Wipe spills promptly.
- Use appropriate furniture protectors.
- Lift rather than drag heavy objects.
- Avoid excessive heat and prolonged direct sunlight when possible.
- Do not use steam cleaners unless specifically approved by the flooring manufacturer.
- Avoid abrasive scrubbers and harsh chemicals.
- Although many LVP products are marketed as waterproof, water can still migrate around the perimeter, underneath flooring, or into surrounding building materials.
Laminate Flooring Care
- Laminate flooring requires particular attention to moisture.
- Clean spills promptly.
- Avoid allowing standing water to remain on the flooring.
- Use a lightly damp cleaning method rather than saturating the floor.
- Do not wet-mop unless specifically permitted by the manufacturer.
- Do not steam-clean unless specifically permitted by the manufacturer.
- Use furniture pads and appropriate entrance mats.
- Maintain appropriate indoor temperature and humidity.
- Water-related swelling, edge damage, or other moisture damage resulting from conditions outside the flooring manufacturer's warranty is not considered an installation/workmanship defect.
Hardwood Flooring Care
- Wood is a natural material and responds to changes in its environment.
- Maintain manufacturer-recommended temperature and relative humidity.
- Use a hardwood-floor cleaner approved by the manufacturer.
- Clean spills promptly.
- Never allow standing water to remain on the floor.
- Use appropriate felt pads under furniture.
- Avoid dragging heavy objects.
- Use appropriate rugs or mats at entrances.
- Protect the flooring from excessive sunlight when practical.
- Seasonal expansion, contraction, minor gaps, or movement can occur as humidity changes and may be a normal characteristic of natural wood rather than an installation defect.
Carpet Care
- Regular maintenance can extend the appearance and life of your carpet.
- Vacuum regularly using equipment appropriate for your carpet.
- Address spills and stains promptly.
- Blot spills rather than aggressively rubbing them.
- Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for professional cleaning.
- Keep outdoor dirt and moisture from being tracked onto the carpet.
- Follow manufacturer requirements regarding cleaning frequency if required to maintain warranty coverage.
- Damage from burns, cuts, pet stains, bleach, chemicals, excessive moisture, or improper cleaning is not considered an installation/workmanship defect.
Remodeling or Construction After Flooring Installation
If additional remodeling or construction takes place after your flooring has been installed, the finished flooring must be appropriately protected before other work begins. This includes work performed by:
- Painters
- Plumbers
- Electricians
- Cabinet installers
- Countertop installers
- Appliance installers
- Drywall contractors
- General contractors
- Movers
- Delivery personnel
- Other trades or service providers
- The customer is responsible for ensuring that subsequent contractors appropriately protect the finished flooring.
- Damage caused after installation by tools, ladders, equipment, carts, construction debris, paint, drywall compound, adhesives, grout, caulk, chemicals, moving appliances or furniture, or other construction activities is not considered a Casa Floors installation/workmanship defect.
- If another contractor removes, cuts, lifts, modifies, repairs, or otherwise alters flooring installed by Casa Floors, subsequent problems associated with that work may not be covered by Casa Floors' workmanship warranty.
Manufacturer Warranty
Your flooring product may include a warranty provided by the flooring manufacturer. Manufacturer warranties vary by product and may contain specific requirements regarding:
- Residential or commercial use
- Installation
- Cleaning and maintenance
- Moisture
- Pets
- Stains
- Wear
- Temperature and humidity
- Approved cleaning products
- Professional carpet cleaning
- Warranty duration
- Transferability
- Claim procedures
- The manufacturer's warranty is provided by and subject to the terms of the flooring manufacturer, not Casa Floors.
- Customers should retain their product information and follow the manufacturer's care and warranty requirements.
Casa Floors Workmanship Warranty
Any workmanship warranty provided by Casa Floors is separate from the flooring manufacturer's product warranty.
A workmanship warranty applies to qualifying problems that result from the flooring installation performed by Casa Floors or its authorized installers, subject to the customer's agreement and applicable warranty terms.
Examples of potential installation-related concerns may include issues involving installation workmanship that become apparent after completion.
A workmanship warranty does not mean that every problem occurring after installation is an installation defect.
What Is Generally Not Covered by a Workmanship Warranty
Unless otherwise required by applicable law or specifically covered under a written warranty, workmanship coverage does not include damage or conditions resulting from:
- Normal wear and tear
- Scratches, dents, gouges, cuts, chips, burns, or stains
- Pet damage or pet accidents
- Improper cleaning or maintenance
- Steam cleaning when prohibited by the manufacturer
- Standing water or flooding
- Plumbing, appliance, roof, or HVAC leaks
- Excessive moisture or humidity
- Structural or subfloor movement unrelated to installation workmanship
- Moving or dragging furniture or appliances
- Improper furniture protection
- Damage caused by occupants or guests
- Damage caused by movers or delivery personnel
- Damage caused by other contractors or subsequent remodeling
- Paint, drywall compound, adhesives, chemicals, grout, or construction debris
- Improper floor-protection products or tape
- Failure to follow manufacturer care requirements
- Unauthorized repairs, alterations, or modifications
- Accidents, abuse, misuse, or neglect

- Contact Casa Floors as soon as reasonably possible.
- Take clear photographs of the affected area.
- Provide your name, project address, and a description of the concern.
- Avoid altering or repairing the affected area before Casa Floors has an opportunity to evaluate it, when reasonably possible.
